Health and safety is a priority for MacLaren and for our MacLaren families. Our 1960s building needs some major upgrades to maintain a safe learning environment for our students. We have prioritized three projects for this year. You can help make a difference by giving to make these upgrades possible. |
Cool the School!
When we announced our plan for air conditioning the building to the students at Upper School Morning Assembly, there was a deafening cheer! For too long the main building and gym have been overheated during the warmer months. Staff and students are thrilled that we have a plan to make the campus more comfortable, habitable, and conducive to learning. This project costs over a million dollars, and so we need to stagger this project over a few years to complete. We need your help to move this project forward! |
Pack the Stands!
Our gym bleachers were installed in 1963. It currently takes several adults to pull these out for every event. We are excited to announce new bleachers coming soon. Highlander fans of all ages will enjoy the guard rails, ADA access, and greater seating capacity! Staff will be able to open and close the new bleachers at the touch of a button. Would you please consider a special gift to help us complete this significant and much-needed update to our campus? |
Tighter Security!
We have excellent safety procedures, but we are always looking for ways to improve. One small change we can make that may make a difference in an emergency is upgrading the hardware on our classroom doors. Our staff currently keep their classrooms locked, but one needs a key to lock them from the outside. Upgrading hardware to the handles that have a push button to lock from the inside will keep our students even more secure in an emergency. Door handles are roughly $400 each—or about $20 per student. We are already committed to spending this money. Will you pitch in to help us offset the cost of this investment in our students’ safety? |
